The University of Alberta was founded in 1908 by Premier Alexander Cameron Rutherford and Dr. Henry Marshall Tory. In the first year, the total enrollment at the institution was 45 students, which has blossomed to more than 39,000 presently. The University of Alberta is ranked one of the world’s leading public research and teaching-intensive universities, which has gained international recognition for discoveries in health and medicine, energy, environment, agriculture and bioresources.
